What did you think?

Personally speaking I thought it was done well and a good concept.. however 2 of the people decided it was poo and wouldn't give me a valid reason why!

The Exact same happened... After seeing it with my brother and sister, i saw it with 4 friends..... I, along with 2 think it was really good, but the other 1 thought it was worse than signs, and the other thought it was dumb.

Personally, I don't know how any movie can be worse than signs...

I do. Signs wasn't bad, I thought it was pretty exciting. But the whole earth-water-anti-alien thingey just didn't make sense.

The village had that "M. Knight" feel to it, but I thought it dragged through the middle. It had some good twists, but I wasn't happy with what he did for Pheonix's character.

Signs was good until the end. I like the fact that I cant think of the last time something gave me chills like that scene when they showed the alien on the news report. That right there,\ won my respect for the movie.

Yeah, I agree-Signs isn't that bad.

And even though you expect to see the Alien on the news report and it's not like a Giger-creation (it's in fact similar to those dope-smoking aliens you see on cheap posters) it's pretty frightening.

The thing with Signs and The Village is-Unlike The Sixth Sense (in which the Shyamalan twist was not famous and no one saw it coming) and Unbreakable (isn't really much of a twist just a change of character) Signs and The Village both seemed like Shyamalan had written these scary pieces, stopped, then thought-Now, what can I do that'll really make a good twist.

He couldn't think of a good one for Signs. He came up with Aliens allergic to water (didn't they see the planet was made up of a fair amount of it before deciding to invade it) and he thought of a good one for The Village-But it was just apalling.

He needs to try something different for his next movie. IMO, as he's a big fan, it should've been he who took on Superman. It would've been good to see him working from somene else's script on a (fairly) riskless project, where he could showcase his skills for directing and still have a box-office guarantee.

Same with Superman. He'd be stuck in the story without the freedom to tinker, and Minoj doesn't seem like one very comfortable with CG SFX, which is where every superhero-adaptation has been heading.

Besides, I think Unbreakable was a decent-enough Superman origin.

Signs was decent enough first-time watching it, but can't keep a straight-face throughout it anymore.

It all falls apart at the end, after they've survived the evening & they hear on the radio that an "ancient" or "primitive" method of fighting the aliens had been discovered in the Middle East. I just think water-balloons & Super-Soakers in the hands of bedouins; and fall over laughing. [img]tongue.gif[/img]
